Random Charges

Commerce bank is a scam and they take advantage of students. They charge you for withdrawing money from THEIR ATMS. Had to call and change to paperless to avoid a $3 charge and then got charged .50 and 1.50 for withdrawing money from my account. If you are on their free checking and not student, paper statements are free. They are a joke.

Very rude employees at the poplarbluff branch

Tellers are very rude and lazy. They took money off my card that I didn't get. Asked about it in person was treated horrible didn't get money back. Called corporate to file complaint. They would not let me file a complaint would not let me talk to a manager

Overall Experience

Don't recommend much at all about this bank. Mobile deposits go missing on the app. Customer Service number is not very helpful, as every question has to be transferred around to another rep to be addressed by a so called specialist. This bank is also horrible about putting crap fees on checking and savings accounts and they generally view their customers as objects to simply mine fees from. Have had an account with them for decades and am now going through the painful process of unwinding the relationship and will not do business with them anymore.

Pointless bank

I shared a joint account with my fiancé that'd we'd use to move money back and forth to each other. This was easier than sharing an active account. We had that account for 4 years and today, all of a sudden, they closed it because of a 0 balance. To top it off, when they closed it, they locked me out of all the online banking services. I was forced to call and go through their terrible phone menu of choices. I was connected with the angriest lady in the world who demanded I verify my information and then started asking for specific amounts of transactions... I couldn't log in to the bank to see what she was asking! I asked for a supervisor and she put me on hold for 10 minutes. When she came back, she decided she could help with without verifying the details she was demanding a few minutes ago. Then, 'her system froze' and she transferred me to someone else. 10 minutes later, I spoke with a nicer lady who informed me that because the account was at $0 they closed it and locked me out automatically. That was it. She clicked a button and told me to basically *** off. I was able to login after that, but what pointless sort of process is that? I have bills to pay and I keep a close eye on ALL of my accounts. Needless to say, after the debacle 2 months ago where their entire system went down for DAYS and no one could access any of their money, this is the final straw. Stay away from this terrible bank.

LOL...There was a reason, you had a ZERO balance. Now tell us, did they really flip out on you the second the answered the phone?

Was it like Rawrrrr before the greeting You must have bad luck as everyone else you spoke to was just as mean to you. C'mon, you came off like a @#$# and they responded in kind before letting you talk to the silent manager. I'm betting they told you the same @#$$# several times and you kept coming back thinking the magic manager(who probably told them they don't have time for you) could change the program for special little you. Look loser, banks can shut you off for NO reason.

Be glad you had one. I do have a question, 4 years, are you scared to marry or is the other person smart enough to not marry someone who gets angry over petty @#$# like this. Who has time to keep ranting over nothing as you do?

Hopefully, your fiance understands what you're about and bails on you before it's too late! OK loser, this is where people like you enjoy saying "you must work for them."

Fix your terrible practices. Why lock someone out of their online banking for no reason? What idiot employee made that decision?

Stay away ! Online self service not reliable, limited hours customer support

I have been a client of this bank for more than 15 years... this week their Bill pay screen does not come up...I have been using that for many years with the same laptop - what happened now??? and no customer support after 8pm... no chat support u have to call... this is SO frustrating !!!

Same here ! Been using it for years and now it takes 5 minutes to load !

Limited online support and when complained they dismissed it ! May be time to move to better online services ...

AVOID THIS BRANCH

I have had numerous issues with my account since opening it online. When I went into the branch inside a local Dillons to speak with someone, the girl who offered to "help" turned out to be a complete snob. She treated me as if I were stupid and made it clear that she could care less if I closed the account. Of course the manager was not in. She is the reason I am closing this account and I will be sure that her manager is made aware of her rude behavior.

Terrible Customer Service when trying to open a Savings Account

This is the letter I sent to Customer Service after a terrible experience with their employees. Hello Customer Service department: I would like to let you know that I went to your branch office located on 3000 W 6th St. Lawrence, Kansas 660** ** minutes before closing on10/11, (2:32 - 2:35pm ish) with the intention to open a Saving Account which it would be the 3rd one that my husband and myself have with your bank. Personal banker Maggie Fonkert - NMLS #108**** told me that they could not open any account after 2:30pm...please consider that explaining what I wanted took few minutes by the time she turn to see the wall clock to tell me, "DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT I AM NOT OPENING ANY ACCOUNT FOR YOU TODAY", I reply that I was informed that the process would take few minutes since we have already few accounts there, but she refused. She and the other guy were doing nothing, there was no more clients in line, but they didn't not ever try to start the process or anything. I really felt mistreated and powerless and that is not the feeling that I should have as a client. If you have any policy of not opening accounts after 2:30PM, you should have a sign. This lady should not be in the front deck, she doesn't know how to be polite to attend clients, she acted as the Owner! I truly regretting having any account with your back and opening any new saving account with your bank, since this is the closest branch to my home and I would have to deal with that type of employees. I hope you can help to improve the situation and your policies.

Savings account joke

Opened a small saving account with them two years ago in Pekin, Il. I knew that they weren't paying any interest, but I didn't know that they would hit me with 110.00 in fees in a 2 year period. I have never in my 63 years of life every put money into a savings account and lost money. Unbelievable!! They said it was dormant...

The worst experience with a company I have ever had.

Now, I know the title is very dramatic, but I am serious. I used to think the worst bank was Bank of America, but boy was I wrong. The staff at the location is so rude. When I went to close my account, this woman with bad hair stuck in the 80s treated me like a child. Now, I am a young adult, but I am still an ADULT. I’m not an idiot, I know how a bank account works. I named my accounts some... I guess innapropriate names. (They were only swear words, but still they’re MY accounts and I can name them whatever I want. I know this is stupid, but like I said I’m young) and she judged me HARSHLY for it. She told me they were inappropriate, which like, who cares lady just close my account. She also wouldn’t really let me close my account, and kept telling me I had to do all these things I knew I didn’t have to. On top of all of that, after I stopped all reoccurring payments to my account, AND left some money behind to cover me, I WAS STILL CHARGED SOMEHOW. Now, why did I leave in the first place? Because on multiple occasions I would only get HALF of my deposits!! Especially if I did it at the ATM or on mobile. And I was told there is nothing they could do. Also, once my account was very low, and my job didn’t give me my check until 2 weeks after they were supposed to. But since I had barely any money in my account, they charged their little service charge, which made me overdraft (even though I didn’t have overdraft protection) and the 5 dollars they took from me turned into 60 with overdraft fees. Ridiculous. I have never encountered a polite person at any of there locations in MO. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!! Unless you like having half of your money and being charged for everything, and then having your money mysteriously disappear.
