Commerce Bank closed my checking account which was in good standing with no negative issues without notifying me, mailing anything, or even a phone call. I only found out when I tried to use my debit card and was declined. They refused to reopen it and told me to...

Commerce Bank-Won't investigate fraudulent charges

I had a $30 charge appear on my checking account which I did not authorize. The only detail on my bank statement was a phone number, no company name. So, I called the phone number, it turned out to be a call center for various companies, and they told me that in order to reverse the charge I would have to know which company charged me. I told them I had no way of knowing who charged me, my Commerce bank statement didn't give that info., just a phone number. They put me on hold, then disconnected me. Obviously, a scam company and bogus charge. So, I filed a dispute form with Commerce Bank in regards to the charge. The result was that Commerce bank would not reverse the charge. Their reason was "I could not identify the company that charged me". What in the world!! This bank is so incompetent that they can't even determine who charged my account fraudulently ??? And then they blame me for that ??? It's the bank's responsibility to tell me who charged my account!!! And, they couldn't even do that. This is the worst bank that I have ever seen.

I filed the complaint with their customer service dept. in Kansas City. This is the Commerce Bank with the big green logo.

There are a lot of unrelated Commerce Banks across the country - where is this one?

Nope, closing the account won't do any good. They will still allow the charges to go thru, since in their opinion they're not unauthorized, and thusly they will then charge me od charges.

I bet if you threaten to close your account with them then they'll do something about it. But then again maybe not.

Commerce Bank unfriendly policies, uncaring staffs

"Unfriendly banking policies and uncaring staff" I travelled abroad, so was late paying the credit card. They charged a late fees on my account. Since it was my first time paying late, I called customer service in hope they would waive the late fee. My request is denied. When I asked for a reason, the representative told me that they will only excuse customers who pay late for very first time. I then asked why my late fee was not waived since it was also first time of me paying late? She idled for a while and vaguely replied "maybe you have not been using the card actively or as often, so we cannot excuse you!" She even declined my request to speak to a supevisor. Horrible experience!!!!

Commerce Bank in Kansas City, Kansas - TOTALLY UNHELPFUL AND RUDE

This bank has not provided me the documents I need to file my taxes and are not being helpful. they don't return phone calls. Because of them i have not been able to file my taxes. they refuse to help and I am going to report them to the IRS I am 60 years old, have been disabled for 5 years and have a problem with Commerce Bank purposely withholding proper documents I need to file my taxes and therefore I have been unable to file my taxes this year. I got a 1099 form from them for closing out my IRA with them for a little over $1,000 in 2009. They have records on file, all the documentation they need to veryify i am disabled, I mean my doctor sent them a letter plus when i had my account with them they knew that every month I received a disability check from Social Security. So they are well aware I am disabled and have been for years. They also know my age and based on my age there is also no reason for having coded my 1099 as taxable/penalty for early withdrawal. I have tried to talk to them, the main customer service with Commerce Bank says that I have to handle this through my local branch. That is the Grandview, Missouri branch and they don't return my phone calls. They did call once saying they needed a letter from my doctor but I called back to advise them they already have a letter, I needed to get it for them once before but they deny they have it. So I told them forget the disability based on my age there is no penalty or taxes either but they never even bother to call me back. The person I talked to at the Grandview branch is someone called Meaghan. I left messages on several voice mails and no one ever returns my call. So I called and talked to a supervisor and she refused to help and just said they need the letter. They are being deliberately difficult and not helping to give me the documents they are required to give me and I am now fed up with wasting my time to get a document they have the ability and the requirement to supply me but refuse to do so. I told them I will contact the IRS and they can deal with it but I definitely would recommend anyone looking for a good bank to avoid Commerce like the plague because if you ever have a dispute over a fraudulent charge or an issue like this, Commerce does everything in their power to be NOT HELPFUL. I am going to spend my time on the internet on every available site warning people about the unethical and illegal behavior of Commerce Bank and its employees and its obstructionist activities. If I can't file my taxes I will make use of my time warning any and all about Commerce Bank.

Recently I had a horrible experience with my bank (Commerce Bank). I have been banking with Commerce Bank since I was 16 years old. I have never once overdrawn my account. I was charged overdraft fees for a charge I did not make. On 10/17 I made a total purchase for...

Commerce Bank Fenton Bad Customer Service

Been a customer since 1990, & daughter account since 1997. The turmoil Commerce has caused in last 7 days erased any good qualities about bank. Returned a check that has been deposited for over 1 year, but made no phone call to advise now it was a problem, just showed up overdrafting all items. Then the check was in limbo for almost a week floating in inneroffice envelopes, So account basically frozen and no access to money which was paycheck. Offered no solutions. Shame on Commerce, for taking away personal customer service. when I started banking there it was PERSONAL. we live 70 miles away, I work at another local bank and still had stayed at commerce. WHY!

Hello. I've got a small business account at Commerce Bank, and up to now I've been quite pleased. The checks all clear within a day, and the branch I go to is nice and clean. However, tonight I took a potential investor out for drinks. Things went well, but...

We've been a Commerce Bank customer for over twenty years, with direct deposit of over $2,000 a week. Today they closed our account because they SUSPECTED fraud.

They didn't notify us, No calls, nothing..just cancelled our bank cards, and when I went to use it today, for a $4 purchase, it was denied. They said my wife DEPOSITED too many checks from a credit union! So they SUSPECTED fraud. I've got news for them.

Our pay checks will now be deposited into the credit union. They treat you like you're a criminal. My wife was embarrased to no end when she went to the bank, and they said that not only is the account closed, but we're banned from ever using their bank again. Not a problem there.

Commerce Bank needs to re-check their policies. What a terrible way to run a business.

Commerce Bank - Watch Pending Transactions

For about the 3rd time now, Commerce Bank has posted something in my Pending Transactions online, including taking the money out of my account, and once that item is credited back to my account (because I have returned it), they have removed it from my Pending Transactions, but not credited the money back to my account. They like to say that the transactions cancelled themselves out, but that isn't true because the money was never given back. To make matters worse, because I have contested transactions with them so many times they have since told me that I can no longer get a credit to my account, even if it is their mistake, because I have already had 3 this year...which basically means they have a right to rob me from now on and I can never get my money back. In a slumping economy where every penny counts, being robbed by your bank is the worst insult.

you should both take responsibility for you spending. the bank will give you your available balance .

"available" means what you have to spend. if you decided to over draw because you are not responsible enough to make sure you only spend what you have available . That is NOT the banks fault. Take some responsability for Godsake.

growup. learn how your bank works and you will never be charged a fee. Talk to your bank manager. he will explain fees and why you get them.

If you have two dollars and spend three who's fault is that.

Remember they are still a business not a charity where they keep your money safe untill you feel like using it. But if you are smart and make sure you know what you have in your account they will never get you for a fee.

Commerce Bank pushing us into foreclosure instead of helping us to continuing to pay our mortgage

Commerce Bank's Foreclosure V.P. Lou Chiarlanza has been extremely vicious against us even after we caught up on our mortgage payments on our office building in Somerville New Jersey. We have been trying to re-finance our building but have found it difficult in these economic times. Commerce Bank is continually shortening out time before they will foreclose. We are not allowed to talk to anyone in the bank, we can only communicate with the bank through our attorney to the bank's attorney. At one point Commerce Bank asked us for $20,000.00 to get more time. Why are they so mean?
